It's been a go-to Republican argument for eons, and conservative commentators dredge it up with reckless abandon: "Don't vote for Democrats, because they will steal your hard-earned money!!!" The problem is that, for 95 percent of the electorate, it just simply isn't true. Check out a graphic from the Washington Post this last week:
Now, understanding that around 95 percent of American households make less than $160,000 a year,* it's clear that only for the wealthiest 5 percent of Americans, is the Democratic a net tax hiker. For the remaining 95 percent of us, he's not. In fact, for a clear majority of Americans, Obama is a big tax cutter!
The choice is clear for us voters. But the above sticker's creator should have been clearer about the type of wallet: less Boston Traveler and more Dolce & Gabbana.
