Conservatism: A Requiem

I think, with the help of historical perspective, we will come to see this time as the beginning of the end, not only for one political campaign, but for a movement. Palin has been exposed, uncovered for the farce she truly is. (And it's significant that the journalist doing the actual journalism was Katie Couric -- a woman.) It's almost unbearable to watch the world devour this woman. Cringe-worthy. Squirm-inducing. And one of the real culprits here is John McCain, for exploiting one person's biography in the creation of a celebrity phenomenon, an illusionary smokescreen. It's desperate and really quite pathetic.

Conservatism was envisioned and emboldened, only to be radicalizied and ossified. The movement now sputters on the fumes of inane hyperventilation and corrupt alliances. The dying embers, flickering.
